PLANT LIST: RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival | Teucer Wilson Green the Gap Garden
The planting for the Teucer Wilson Green the Gap Garden at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival was inspired by the opportunities to grow in the overlooked spaces of our towns and cities: gaps, verges and unloved spaces that might otherwise go unnoticed.
We chose tough, drought-tolerant plants that could thrive in challenging conditions, planting into a crushed concrete mulch made from building waste. The pale tones of the recycled rubble provide a light backdrop to the planting, while the plants themselves bring colour, texture and movement, creating softness against the harder materials used throughout the garden.
The result is resilient yet dream-like, with the planting softening the materials and creating an atmospheric, inviting space.
